Sporting News primes BSU for big year

Hey thanks Sporting News! I guess it's no longer called The Sporting News, but the Web site has put Ball State in some elite company. The Mighty Bird are ranked No. 41 in SN's preseason college football poll, five spots ahead of...duh duh duh...Purdue! I'm sure Boiler Up Country is thrilled with this.

For the next 50 days, SN will breakdown each team. And since we're at 41, that means we have to wait nine days, or...five days longer than Purdue. Hahaha.

Sorry for rubbing it it, but this might be the only time us Cardinal fans get to do that. When you go and think about, we're getting an awful lot of preseason hype when we have done, well, so little in previous years. Ball State still hasn't beaten a BCS team ever and only has one crack at it this year with Indiana. We've had an awful lot of near misses (IU, Michigan, Nebraska) and got blown-the-beep-out by Rutgers. And wee should've won the Nebraska game. Never thought I'd type those words. But just to be realistic, let's hope this year is the year we finally bust through instead of being a Boulevard of Broken Dreams. Let's not get too cocky about things until BSU can start winning some important games.
