Ball State - Navy does good things for ESPN

Good news, fans of the furry feather. Last Friday's Ball State - Navy game was the most-watched game by a Mid-American Conference home team since 2005. The game got a 1.2 rating, which translates into 1,164,083 homes. Nothing better to do on a Friday night than watch Ball State be awesome!

The 1.2 rating was the best since the Sept. 9, 2005 Ohio upset of Pitt. Pitt lost to a MAC team? No, never.

As a poster on the Star Press article the other day noted, don't forget that Nielsen just tracks the total number of households watching, not the total number of viewers (you multiply the figure by 3.something to get the average viewership). Also, it doesn't take into account places like bars and restaurants, where people watch in a communal setting.

So the total number of people watching Friday night was probably close to 10 million. 10 million people... watching Ball State football live from Muncie. Isn't it grand?
