BSU picked to finish second at MAC Media Day

Before we get into any intimiate discussions, let me post the preseason rankings:

WEST DIVISION (6-5-4-3-2-1 point system)

1. Central Michigan 207
2. Ball State 168
3. Western Michigan 143
4. Toledo 98
5. Eastern Michigan 80
6. Northern Illinois 60

EAST DIVISION (7-6-5-4-3-2-1)

1. Bowling Green 206
2. Miami 202
3. Buffalo 145
4. Kent State 137
5. Temple 120
6. Ohio 119
7. Akron 78

As I've said before, I really can't complain about Central Michigan being selected first. They are the two-time defending champions and return Player of the Year Dan Lefevour. Of course, preseason rankings don't mean crap — unless of course, we were ranked No. 1. Traditionally, the preseason rankings are based on how you finished last season. So CMU could lose all 22 starters from last year's team and still be selected No. 1.

Central had way more first-place votes than Ball State (29 to 5 out of 36, with Western Michigan getting the other two), but all that matters is the showdown at the end of the season.

My predictions: In the West, flip-flop BSU and CMU (duh!) and EMU and NIU, while in the West...it'll be Miami over Bowling Green. Book it, and bet on it.

By the way, I'm starting to enjoy the new MAC logo each and every day.
